The EU Referendum results are in – and we have voted to leave – how it will affect the law?
The shock result today has sparked both celebrations and warnings of looming disasters at every turn.
Pinney Talfourd offers a range of legal services that may be affected and we have asked some our lawyers for an idea of what to expect in the coming months and even years.
Paul Berry of our Residential Property department wants to reassure people that “Life goes on, people will still need to move, downsize, expand.” He says that apart from the legislative changes he doesn’t think that property will be affected significantly in the long term. “Property prices are likely go down but that will benefit first time buyers and those buying up. Mortgages may become more expensive but they’re reasonably easy to get hold of at the moment.”
Stephen Eccles, Partner at Pinney Talfourd foresees significant upheaval in litigious work. “Most of the litigation and family law work has a jurisdiction issue. Court forms and procedures will need to be changed as a result which will cause a headache administration wise. The Government legal service will need to be huge to cope.”
There are likely to be many changes ahead and our lawyers are always on hand to discuss any of your concerns.
