Our Charity of the Year for 2019/20, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 was Hornchurch-based Havering Association for People with Disabilities (H.A.D). Pinney Talfourd were proud to have partnered with H.A.D (Havering Association for People with Disabilities) for the last three years, raising a total of £12,172.
Our usual Charity of the Year partnership extended to three years due to the pandemic.

In May of every year, we consult with our staff in order to choose a charity to support for the financial year ahead.
Havering Association for People with Disabilities (H.A.D) provide a broad range of services and activities for people with physical disabilities and carers in the London Borough of Havering. They were nominated as our Charity of the Year by numerous staff members who have seen first hand the incredible work they do to ensure those with disabilities continue to have a voice, a choice and control over their lives.
H.A.D’s objective is to improve the quality of life, promote independence and meet the physical, emotional and recreational needs of the disabled community.
H.A.D. formerly known as Havering Association for the Handicapped (HAH) was formed in May 1969. In the early 1980s the charity applied and won funding for its own accommodation, at Woodhall Crescent. In 1996 the name of the Association was changed to HAVERING ASSOCIATION FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, it continues to flourish and adapt to meet the needs of local people living in the community.
A variety of programmes and services have been developed over the years according to need and to provide a wide range of activities for people with disabilities and carers. The organisation participates in many local events such as Carers Week and Carers Rights Day and information days.
Other services include:
All activities are advertised on their H.A.D Online Calendar. If you are interested in joining any of the activities on offer, please visit their website for full details.
H.A.D is a registered charity (No. 1089188).
We held a number of fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds for H.A.D, including charity runs, dress down days, bake sales and evening fundraising events.
In the Summer, we managed to convince four staff members that climbing down the side of the ArcelorMittal Orbit would be fun! This is the UK’s HIGHEST freefall abseil from the UK’s TALLEST sculpture – see how they got on here.
A couple of months later, five runners completed the Havering Half Marathon, raising £800 – read more here.
In November, everybody was invited to join us for a curry at one of the tastiest Indian restaurants in Hornchurch; Uraswamys – find out more here.
Each year the firm works with the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch to host ‘Christmas at the Queen’s’. Proceeds are split between our Charity of the Year and Queen’s Theatre Charitable Trust.
Our plans throughout the duration were added to our plans on our events page as and when they happened.
At the end of each client matter we send a Client Questionnaire in order to understand your experience with the firm. For each Client Questionnaire returned to us, we donated £1 to H.A.D.
If you would like to get involved in any of our fundraising events or have any ideas as to how we can raise funds for our charity partners, please get in touch.
We have raised the following amount for our Charity of the Year, H.A.D, so far:
