Chair of Havering Dementia Action Alliance and Head of our Private Client team, Matthew Edwards, accepts the “Best Dementia Friendly Community Initiative”.
Havering Dementia Action Alliance in Havering has scooped an award at a national awards ceremony, winning the “Best Dementia Friendly Community Initiative” at the Alzheimer Society’s Dementia Friendly awards, reports the Havering Yellow Advertiser.
The initiative runs throughout the borough and aims to encourage local organizations to join up and support those people living with dementia. It is made up of more than 80 members including businesses, charities, GPs and Havering Council.
The borough is only the second in London to achieve the “working to become a dementia-friendly borough” status.
Matthew Edwards, Chair of the Havering Dementia Action Alliance, said “We are delighted to receive such a prestigious award in recognition of the tremendous amount of hard work by such committed people, both in connection with setting up the alliance in the first place and recruiting a record number of members, and the subsequent work to raise awareness of dementia in the community.”
Matthew is head of the private client department at Pinney Talfourd and his team is dedicated to working with local charities to support dementia. Matthew is Chair of the Havering Dementia Action Alliance as well as a court appointed Deputy on the Court of Protection Panel.
